Conflict of Interest Act and the
Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons set out rules that public office holders and Members must follow.
Some of the rules spell out what these officials must do to comply. Others state what they cannot do.

Public office holders may also be subject to rules administered by other bodies. For example, ministers must comply with the prime minister’s Open and Accountable Government guide. Other public office holders may be bound by the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector and any special codes of conduct their organizations may have.
