The
Conflict of Interest Act’s prohibition on outside activities for reporting public office holders does not restrict their political activities.
However, there are some considerations that certain reporting public office holders should keep in mind when a federal election is underway.
There is no mention of political activities in the
Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons, but it does state that a Member does not breach the Code if the Member’s activity is one in which Members normally and properly engage on behalf of their constituents.
