The
Conflict of Interest Act prohibits reporting public office holders from engaging in outside employment and a number of other activities.
There is no similar restriction in the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons. The Code does not prohibit Members who are not ministers or parliamentary secretaries from engaging in outside activities as long as they are able to fulfill their obligations under it.
