Public Declaration of Recusal
As required under the Conflict of Interest Act
Statutory requirement(s):
25. (1) If a reporting public office holder has recused himself or herself to avoid a conflict of interest, the reporting public officeholder shall, within 60 days after the day on which the recusal took place, make a public declaration of the recusal that provides sufficient detail to identify the conflict of interest that was avoided.
51. (1) The Commissioner shall maintain a registry consisting of the following documents for examination by the public:

On June 19, 2023, I made the decision of recusing myself from discussions and the decision concerning the appointment of a member of the Canada Council for the Arts in order to avoid any opportunity to further the private interest of a friend, Mr. Jan-Fryderyk Pleszczynski.
